Arjuna Manning-Laisne named New Boys Head Varsity Coach

We are pleased to announce the hiring of  Coach Arjuna Manning-Laisne as our new head boys varsity basketball coach. Arjuna, who served this season as an assistant varsity basketball coach is a Hillsdale High School alum and will become the 6th head coach in the program’s 55 year run. Playing for both Coach Bill Wilkins and Coach Randy Matheny, Arjuna played a significant role in Hillsdale winning 2 CCS Championships in 1995 and 1997 and making it to the NorCal State Championship game in 1997. After playing at Hillsdale, Arjuna played college basketball at Canada College in Redwood City for two years before transferring to Holy Names University in Oakland where he played his final two years.

Arjuna began his coaching career as an assistant boys basketball coach at Hillsdale in 2001. In 2002 Arjuna joined the men’s basketball coaching staff at Foothill College. He would later return to Holy Names as an assistant coach, where he remained until 2006. From 2006-2012 he served as the boys head varsity basketball coach at Aragon. During this time, the program competed in the CCS playoffs 3 out 5 seasons, making it to the semi-finals in 2009. Arjuna continued coaching basketball at Borel Middle School while working at Baywood Elementary School from 2008-2019 as a physical education teacher, and currently works on the Hillsdale High School campus where he recently won his 3rd CCS Championship with our boys basketball team. Coach June is student-centered and relationship focused. We are very excited to be moving forward with him as the program leader, and are confident that the program will continue to move forward successfully.

Jeff Gilbert: “In selecting Arjuna, we are proud to hire one of our own, a Knight, someone who understands the legacy he is stepping into and someone who will maintain and grow the program.”

Go Knights!!!
